'ShroomsStory Recipe![]() In Washington, you can go to certain fields and collect mushrooms packed with psilocybin. For those of you who don't know wild mushrooms, can't find the right fields or just don't trust hallucinogenic drugs, here's a Marijuana based alternative fungus. The fashionable mushroom for stuffing these days is the portabella. These are the monster sized caps you see in most supermarkets. You can make a meal out of one of these giants - just scrape out the dark brown gills with a spoon, rub with olive oil, salt and pepper, fill them with chopped veggies (I like tomatoes, onions and zucchini) pop it in the oven until the mushroom is cooked through. Drizzle a couple of teaspoons of Bud Oil over it and enjoy. Another way to go is to use the portabella's younger cousin the crimini, or white button mushrooms to make bite sized 'shroom appetizers. These treats are inexpensive, fun to make and fun to eat. Buy the ones that you pick out of a big bin. The little containers can hide a multitude of sins from cosmetic flaws like broken caps to the funk of expired produce like rot and mold. Don't worry if there is a bit of dirt on them, they grow in dirt so it's natural to have a few clods stuck on them. When you get them home, use a vegetable brush to clean them off. Don't wash them. They are little sponges and will soak up water and end up soggy. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cut the stems out of the clean mushrooms so that they become little cups. Arrange the cups on a cookie sheet and get to work on the filling. Chop up some onion and garlic. Fry some bacon and crumble it up. Finely chop some tarragon. Mix the onion, garlic bacon and tarragon with breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese. Add in a dash of balsamic vinegar and dope oil. The mixture should be a little loose. Don't worry, the mushrooms will give off some liquid so the filling will not be too dry. Spoon the filling into the caps and slide the cooking sheet into the oven. In about 15 minutes, the 'shrooms will have settled and bit and the filling will be golden brown. Let these devils cool a bit before digging in. These treats are so good you are going to want seconds. Feel free to make some without the pot oil. You can decorate the fortified ones by cutting groves around the edges of the mushrooms. Or, you can make them all look the same and play stoner roulette.
